DOMINUS 2003
3 Stars, Recommended

“Christian Moueix, head of Bordeaux’s famed Chateau Petrus, used this bottling to celebrate 20 years of his wine from the Napanook vineyard. Dominus’ relatively modest Bordeaux-like flavor profile, using just 40 percent new wood, tends to polarize Napa Cab lovers. This is a classic example, with 7 percent Cabernet Franc and 5 percent Petit Verdot blended in. Great counterpoint here: Wood notes of cedar and dried herbs balance out raspberry and currant highlights. Fresh, enticing aromas keep drawing your nose back to the glass. It’s quite young, with a slightly wobbly finish.”
